light pillar
Third and last close up of the reflected spotlight over Doetinchem. It appears that the pillar consists of two parallel streaks which look like each other's mirror image. A similar effect is discernable in Heino BARDENHAGEN's first picture of the light pillars over Helvesiek (OP-PL-01). The bright, central pillar in Heino's shot even displays a triple-banded configuration. Probably these double and triple images are caused by multiple spotlights positioned close together, for instance spotlights surrounding a sports field (our guess for the Helvesiek picture), or multiple rotating spotlights used at discos or at festivals (our guess for the Doetinchem picture).
