light pillars nat Jämsä
Unique shot of a Y-shaped light pillar in ice mist created by car headlights. The photo was taken at Jämsä, a small village about 2 km north of the Finish ski resort Himos. The date was November 22, 2004. Time: about 9 pm. The image shown here is only one of several remarkable pictures taken that night by Finnish amateur astronomer Arto OKSANEN. OP-HA-08 for instance is a picture from the same series showing a rare type of lunar halo.
