light pillars over Toyama Bay
Bright lights from distant fishing boats in the Bay of Toyama, Japan, reflect in the evening sky. The combined glow from the mercury vapor lights that is used to lure squid to the surface is visible as two bright areas on the horizon. Their reflected pillar-shaped reflections hover just above them.

For more info about atmospheric reflections from fishing boat lights, see cause #4 in our article on this matter.
