A perfectly formed smoke ring from a home-made launcher travels down a road in Australia.
Small vortex launchers can be made out of any cylindre-shaped object with a hole on one end and a membrane with a string attached to the other. The trick is to fill the cylindre with smoke (this can be achieved by holding it over a smoke generator), pull the membrane back by the string and let go to fire. If you want to build a big vortex ring generator such as the one that produced the ring in this photo, visit : tesladownunder.com. This is also the site where we borrowed this photo from, and where many more pictures and videos of smoke rings and other eccentric phenomena can be found. |
